Litter can be a huge problem for many communities, which is why the Middle Smithfield Township works so hard to keep the community as clean as possible. However, government officials can’t do it all on their own. Instead, they need help from people who live in the area. You can do your part to help when you come out to the MST Litter Pickup in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. You can help out with the process on Saturday, Sept. 28. It will run from 8 a.m. to noon, but you don’t have to be there for the whole thing.
Come Out When You Can
Not everyone is going to be able to volunteer for the whole time this event is going on, and that’s completely OK! But you can really just come do your part whenever you want. Whether you can only work for a few minutes or you want to stay the whole time, there’s room for you to participate. Want to help with picking up trash but can’t make it out on this specific day? That’s no problem at all. Just contact the township and go pick up your cleaning gear whenever you have time for it. A little bit of help can go a long way!
The Importance of Volunteering
We all know how important it is to volunteer regularly. However, it can be hard to get around to when you have such a busy lifestyle. But once you start volunteering, you’ll likely see that it fits into your schedule better than you had anticipated. Not only is it helpful for your entire community, but it’s also great for you. It gives you the chance to think about someone other than yourself, which can be quite a relief.

Bring Your Kids Along
It’s crucial for children to know as much as possible about volunteering, which is easier if you take them to events like this regularly. That way, they’ll see how important doing their part is, and they’ll be more likely to volunteer as adults.
If you want to do something positive for your community, be sure to make it out to the MST Litter Pickup. The area you call home will look better than ever, and you’ll feel great knowing you were a part of making that happen.
